My friend called me up and went on and on about her $390 1 carat diamond engagement ring, only to tell me later that it was man-made. I’m engaged as well, and my fiance and I are planning to go ring shopping soon. My friend insists I get a man-made diamond because of the cost. When I told her I’d really rather it be real and smaller, I think she felt insulted. Anyway, is it really so terrible that I want a real diamond? I would just feel that I would have to constantly explain the fact that it was man-made. My fiance feels the same way. Also, it is my birthstone and I’ve never owned any diamond jewelry. Am I being snobby for wanting it to be real?

Well they also make diamonds using a lock of hair. Well If your fiance gave you an engagement ring made from his hair would you like the idea of it. Would it freak you out? Would you love it?
