Riddle-best answer to first right answer?

Drew H asked:

A king was trying to find an equal mate for his daughter and decided to have the greatest men from all around come to see if the were well suited for his daughter. Many years ago a witch had cast a spell on her that made it so anything she touched melted away. The only way it could be lifted is if a substance could be found that didn’t melt when she touched it. The king had a man come with a giant sword made from the purest of diamonds. She grabbed the sword and it melted into a big pile. Later the king brought a man with a shield made from bamboo, thinking hey, plants can’t melt, why not. Well that didn’t work either, so they eventually he became fed up with it and started to make plans with the queen to have a new daughter that can take over the throne. One day a peasant boy approached the throne and said reach into my pocket and i promise whats in there wont melt. So she did and she pulled something out that didn’t melt. What was in her hand????
Way to go old guy you got it!!

Is Swarovski jewellery a type of costume jewellery?

nspiteri asked:

wikipedia defines costume jewellery as ‘jewelry that is made of less valuable materials, including base metals, glass, plastic, and synthetic stones, in place of more valuable materials such as precious metals and gems.’

yet when last weekend I took my £80 swarovski ring for repairs (caused by wear and tear on the rhodium) at a number swarovski outlets they said they don’t repair that sort of scratches (and said its still in good condition considering its 4 years old!).

One particular outlet additionally commented that swarovski jewellery are, after all, just costume jewellery. Costume jewellery does sometimes say it has swarovski crystals, and the ring doesn’t have any diamonds or previous gems; although it costs much more then the normal £5 ring you’d get from a costume jewellery shop

So my question: is Swarovski jewellery and overly expensive costume jewellery?

Can mined diamonds be scratched or chipped? If so, what conditions would cause this to happen?

Jim O asked:

I bought a synthetic lab-generated diamond from a very reputiable company (at least I thought). When I recieved the stone it looked perfect and great. I was told it had a hardness of 9.2 and had almost all the other characteristicts of a true mined diamond. After about 2 weeks under normal everyday conditions the “synthetic” diamond was scratched. I called the company and asked them about this, and they replied by saying even mined diamonds can be scratched. Is this true? I thought a diamond could only be scratched by another diamond.

Does anyone know if Moissanite jewelry is all “lab created”? And if so, why is it so expensive?

cookie asked:

I have been looking at Moissanite jewelry lately, because they say it sparkles more than real diamonds. But if it’s not “real” (fake, like Diamonique or Bella Luce or Signity — made in a lab cubic zirconia-style), how do they get away with charging so much for it?

I have diamonds & other gems cut in the 1930’s. Jewlers don’t want them. Anyone know who would be interested?

I found them in the garbage. I took them to a jewlery shop. They said they are real but they’re synthetic grown & cut in the 1930’s and jewlery’s come along way since then. But if they’re real, someone somewhere has got to know what I can do with them. They can’t be worth NOTHING, right?
