Natural Diamonds form slowly over many thousands of years under intense heat and pressure inside the Earth. Small synthetic diamonds can now be manufactured. Write a paper that explains how synthetic diamonds are formed, and compare the size and properties of synthetic diamonds to natural diamonds. Include a handwritten rough draft, a typed final copy and all of your research sources. There must be at least 3 different sources and the paper must be in your own words.

Synthetic diamonds are lab created, just like many other gemstones. The quality is the same if not better than the natural gemstones (including diamonds) because synthetic ones don’t have flaws in them like you will find with natural ones.

I say you should do your own research because obviously reading your above statement this is a homework assignment.

Synthetic diamonds are produced industrially by subjecting a pure form of carbon, probably graphite to extreme pressure and temperature. The company producing synthetic diamonds is called Ultra High Pressure. The diamond that are produced are not at all of gem stone quality and are used pricipally for machinery that does drilling, grinding, etc. because of their hardness. The process is kept a closely guarded secret.
