If we can make synthetic diamonds why can’t we make synthetic oil?

Sure could, but the cost would be prohibitive.
oil takes millions of years to form - from the decomposition of living organisms
We do make it for cars
We shouldn’t use oil in the first place, so there is no need to. We should just try to restructure America to use some other energy source.
We can and do make synthetic oils, but it is far too expensive and difficult to produce to replace natural oil.
We can, they do it all the time with bio-diesel, unfortunately the main source of this oil is palm oil and for that they chop down all the Malaysian rain forests
If you are taking more along the lines of taking loads of trees and dead fish and subjecting them to high pressures and varrying tempratures to make synthetic crude oil then it would probably cost an arm and a leg just to run a 50cc motorcycle, and besides you would still need to chop all the rain forests down to get the trees you need.
Best to stop using it if you don’t need it
We do.
for example bio-diesel. Bio-diesel is produced from any fat or oil such as soybean oil.
but lots of other renewable oil type products.
We can make it, but the cost is prohibitive.
Since it is made from coal, that doesn’t help much. The best option would be CO2/CO, but since the combustion of the fuel you make also makes CO2, it is not a good energy tradeoff.
You should also read this about the term synthetic.
We do make synthetic oil since 1942 but if the world economy starts to be based on other material than oil then all equilibres gonna change, also governements, interests, etc. In reality we can make cars running with water -just make a search about you ll be surprised. Also there are hundrends of sources that could replace easily oil as hydrogen -space crafts use this to go out of the atmosphere- methane even nuc power. Synthetic oil is also easy to make but its goona cost more than oil just for economic reasons and for the stability of the energie exchanges on the planet. In less than 50 years oil is gonna be replaced by other stuff anyway as it is not compatible to the new clean and more healthy technologies comming up soon. You can ask about specialists in chemistry. Also as its a very interesting question just google it!!! You ll find certainly a lot of things that gonna make you think differently about the reality today… for sure!
There is no such thing as a synthetic diamond. Either it is a diamond or it isn’t.
Most people reffer to a cutting diamond as synthetic. Do you know what a cutting diamond is? It’s a real diamond, but worthless. So they use it to cut good diamonds. You can cut diamonds, with ONLY aother diamonds. period.
There IS synthetic oil for cars. It costs much more than regular oil. The cost to produce it is greater than the cost of real oil. Unlike the situation with diamonds which cost much more than the synthetic ones, which are made from tiny amounts of cheap chemicals.
