synthetic diamonds

This question is for the ladies specifically. I heard about this company called life gem that creates synthetic diamonds out of any carbon source i.e. dead loved one, or pet. Well they also make diamonds using a lock of hair. Well If your fiance gave you an engagement ring made from his hair would you like the idea of it. Would it freak you out? Would you love it?

Interesting idea, but that’s a little creepy. I could see perhaps useing a lock of hair from a deceased child and making some other type of gem out of it … but an engagement ring? I’d pass.

Well I don’t like synthetic diamonds period. Otherwise just reading this post aside from that it seems a little odd/creepy indeed, I can’t really say why. Even for those with deceased relatives this just seems disturbing.

For me no, I wouldn’t like this, but you know your soon to be fiance better then us if you think she would like it then go for it, good luck.

It sounds like a scam to me. A diamond is a diamond is a diamond. Just buy the ring you can afford to pay cash for. She will love you for that!

    ewwww no. That is gross.

It is more appropriate for someone who’s mother died and was cremated and they wanted to make a ring so they could be with the all the time. I don’t ever think this kind of ring should be given as a gift.

umm I don’t think I would reject it but I’d be a little weirded out definitely… and also it’s not really something you’d give for an engagement that’s something you give your grandma when your grandpa dies

Wow, that’s very original! If my fiance gave me one like that, I’d think it was a little odd at first, considering I’d never heard of that until now, but I would definitely love it–I mean you obviously put a lot of thought and money into it. That’s really unique, good luck! =)

I wouldn’t like that. I love my fiance but I really don’t want to wear his hair. And I wouldn’t want a deceased loved one either. It’s totally creepy to me.

Obviously, you find it interesting, or you would’ve just went & bought a diamond. If you think she’ll be okay with that, go ahead, I guess.

I would ask that he get me a different gem lol. If it could only be a diamond under that condition, I think that I would ALWAYS be thinking about how creepy it is in the back of my mind.

I know that you can get created diamonds online. Seriously, I bet most people wouldn’t even be able to tell that it was fake unless the created diamond was really big.

super creepy…it reminds me of how Aneglina Jolie and Billy bob Thornton wore each others blood. Maybe not as extreme, but along the same lines.

    creepy, creepy, creepy.
A bit Billy Bob Thornton/Angelina Jolie blood in a vial kind of thing.

Inside i would think it was a little weird but if he gave it to me i would love it & the thoughtfulness. My fiance gave me a cz for my first ring and i loved it bc he and his grandma picked it out. I think if that is what you want to get her do it. She loves you and will love the thought and sentamentl value of her ring.

Engagement ring? I can’t think of an instance that I would find this desirable. A deceased spouse? A pendant on a necklace, yes…to keep them close to the heart.

LOL, I didn’t read all the answers, but I’m probably the only one that would like that sort of thing. My fiance told me about lifegem years ago and I thought it would be neat for after I’ve passed.

We’re freaks though, we have bracelets made from each others hair, and we like the idea of the vials of blood thing that Billy Bob and Angelina did LOL

To each their own I guess.

It is not something I would personally choose myself, perhaps for a dress ring or something but I don’t know about an engagement ring. I have nothing against man-made diamonds at all, or man made stones in general, I just think that this is perhaps something I would do with my husbands remains after a life-long marriage.

    Nope, too creepy.
Just get her a regular diamond.
But, as a thought, leave specific money designated in your will to have her do this with your remains - still creepy, but on the cool side…
