Hi,
I’m interested in buying a synthetic diamond ring. When i say synthetic, I mean lab or man made diamond. I’ve heard of Apollo, Gemisis and Adia but I was wondering if anyone knew of any other places? I’m looking for something 1ct or bigger. Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance

Is it cheap to buy an engagement ring with CZ stones?(I will be the reciever).Any good places online to find white gold bridal sets w/CZ stones or lab created diamonds?
I am getting some good answers! They are what i wanted to hear!To the few of you that diagree,im happy to be in love and in reality, could go without. We have lived together for over a year, and we are very happy but that 7,000 for a great ring could go twards a new home, and that 300 for a smaller stone could go twards grocerys.A nice ring can come later. Its the relationship thats important

Can you tell the difference between a “real” diamond, and a lab created diamond?

I am no expert and am trying to figure this out. There seems to be no major difference rather than how it was created, and how old it is.

Say I bought a lab created diamond. Then I took it in to get it appraised, will the jewler know that is lab created, and if so how?

What are some advantages or disadvantages to a lab created diamond?

I do NOT mean cubic zirconium. I mean actual lab created diamonds. They are sometimes set in sterling silver with platinum rhodium finish. I am just curious as to the look of the jewelry, and if it looks cheap or cheesy. I am particularly interested in how it looks after it has been worn for a while.
Uhhh, no Kate, YOU’RE confused…A cubic zirconium is different. Its made of zirconium oxide (ZrO2), and is a diamond simulant. A lab created diamond is molecularly identical to a natural diamond. There is a DIFFERENCE between a synthetic (lab created) diamond, and a diamond simulant (CZ). I am well informed of the differences, but curious about the appearance. The people who own them will know what I mean.

And what is the difference (chemically) between lab-created diamonds and natural diamonds. I heard that most diamond experts cannot tell the difference between natural diamonds and lab-created. Is this true?

lindervish asked:

I have my heart set on an emerald cut Mt. St. Helen’s Emerald (obsidianite created using Mt. St. Helen’s ash) because it’s the color green I prefer and it has local connections. If we buy an engagement ring setting, will any jeweler set the stone for us or are we going to get loads of pressue to buy a diamond?

Also, since the stone is on the 5.5-6 MOHS rating, would it be better to get a platinum setting or is white gold ok?
